Eyes are undoubtedly one of your strongest assets and so-called the window to your soul. Who doesn’t love beautifully done eye makeup? Mastering eye makeup is quite a hazardous task with so many products, so many techniques and so many steps to follow. The incorrect application and wrong shades can sabotage your look. Do not fret! Here are 12 eyeshadow hacks to help you get that perfect look.
Always use a primer
Never ever use eyeshadow without applying primer first. Eye shadow smearing or fading, oily lids, creased lids all these problems can be solved by using a primer. Primer creates a clean canvas and works as a barrier between your eyeshadow and the natural oils in your skin. If you don’t have a primer you can also use your concealer it also does a decent job of priming your lids for eye shadow.
Choose a decent range of brushes
If you are using those itty bitty sponge applicators to blend your eyeshadow that comes with your palette, it will not provide a flawless blending look. So you need to invest in a few quality eyeshadow brushes. A good makeup brush is necessary for decent blending which is what it takes to bring an eyeshadow look to the next level.
Define the cut crease
If you don’t have naturally defined eyelids, a cut crease really helps to make your eyes stand out. Take a dark eyeshadow shade and blend it well along the upper crease of your eyelid, connecting the end of the line with the outer corner of your eye. When you are doing this, look downwards at a mirror instead of straight ahead it will help you find your crease. Use lighter shade on the mobile eyelids to create a contrast (Mobile eyelid- the part that moves when you blink).
Don’t forget the lower lash line
Remember to apply little eyeshadow on the outer lower lash. For an everyday look, use softer hues, like a soft brown, then for a more dramatic look, you can go deeper shade. Use a small dense brush to blend out. Another tip is to tight line your lower lash line with a beige eyeliner pencil to open up the eye and you look awake and alert.
Get an instant brow lift.
A great use for white eyeshadow is to apply on your brow bone ie. underneath your eyebrow. Because the white shade can hide any errant eyebrows and acts as a highlighter. Blend this white shade really well to avoid a crazy streak of white on the eyes.
Fix broken eyeshadows easily.
Dropped your expensive eyeshadow palette? Don’t stress you can easily fix it. Just add a few drops of rubbing alcohol to the broken shadow, mix it with a spoon and then press it with a tissue and finally, leave it to dry.
Take care of your tools
Cleaning your eyeshadow brushes is really important and should be on top of your to-do-list. We are dealing with our eyes so cleanliness is vital. The way to clean your tools is to run your brush under lukewarm water and then pour a nickel-sized amount of baby shampoo into your hand. Or swirl your brushes in the shampoo, rinse well and pat dry with a clean cloth.
Know your eye shape
Do you have close-set eyes? Deep-set? Hooded? Determining the shape of your eye helps you decide which shading technique is right for you.
